Took my parents here for dinner. Amazing Food. Portions was way more then I expected. Ended up taking some of the food home. I live in NYC now, so the Imported beer was dirt cheap to me. Cheap beer is always a plus. Our chef was fun and entertaining with some witty banter. Chef was also quite entertaining with the hibachi flair tricks. Definitely will come back for the food, show, and friendly hospitality.

After a long day of traveling, I was looking forward to eat sushi at this restaurant after seeing all the sushi pictures. Got to the restaurant and felt like ages before anyone acknowledged us and shouted from distance told us to wait. Finally leading us to a table and she said there will be no sushi today. Because the sushi chef didn't come in today. We were too tired to walk out so we stayed. I ordered green tea and was told that don't have green tea. ??? Really? Which Japanese sushi restaurant doesn't have sushi and green tea?

What you expect from a fire wielding, spatula spinning, shrimp sauce dealing Japanese Steak house! Seating and waiting We came knowing that it could be slower on a Thursday night. The Miso soup and salad with shrimp sauce started us off nicely as we waited for the table to be filled. The chef Egg juggling, fire smiley faces, jokes, an impressive display of spatula skills and the food was all prepared correctly. He even divided out the food in a pretty fair way. The food We ordered one entree of well done steak and chicken and one entree of medium well steak and shrimp. Both sirloin steaks were prepared as we ordered them and had a good taste to them. Chicken is hard to mess up and he didn't, enjoyed it as well. The rice and shrimp sauce were a good amalgamation of sweet and salty. Cost 2 serious entrees with water to drink for around $38.00 plus tip.

Friends recommend this place to me, they do serve delicious food! I love the sashimi and steak. Steaks are cooked on the iron plate in front of my table, I like this way, and it's absolute good experience!

The food and service were very good. The "performance" from the hibachi chef was mediocre. We would come here again though. Some of the other chefs seemed to be on their game.

I have to say this is certainly another case of "don't judge a book by its cover"!! We eat here at least once a week, great service, fab owners. For sure a favorite!!! Thanks guys!!!

It was ok. Service was a little slow. Stood at the door for over 10minutes before an employee even came out to seat. Didn't quite get my order right. Food was really good but would probably return for dinner hours. Maybe service is better at that time. Overall very pretty interior. Seating was ver comfortable and staff was nice when they Decided to be around. Would return with friends and family but for dinner when the hibachi tables are in use.

I met up with some friends here for some habachi and drinks. Let me start by saying that one usually doesn't associate Rock Hill will good Japanese food so I was initially skeptical but I'd figure I'd trust my friends and give it a try. Well I was happily surprised. First of all the restaurant was very clean (which is VERY important for me) and we were greated warmly. So we decided to have some drinks at the bar while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. I ordered a martini to start which was strong yet smooth followed by a shrimp tempura roll. The roll very pretty big and the shrimps tasted fresh. I especially like that it wasn't like most sushi rolls around here that are 90% rice and litte else. Once we were seated I ordered the steak and scallop hibachi. This was my favorite by far! The steak was perfectly cooked and the scallops were especially tasty. The best part was the portions were really good for the price and quality of the food. I had more than enough for lunch the next day! It's definitely worth the drive and I'll totally keep going back.

The thing with Japanese steak houses is that the food very rarely tastes different from place to place. It's as if there was one giant pot that every Japanese steak house pulled its food out of. Is the food good at Sakura? Sure...it tastes just like the rest. That's pretty much where I'll leave it. So this rating ultimately comes down to the restaurant being a "butter-face". The food is nice...but there's just something about a restaurant that doesn't spend money to make the place look nice that irks me. It's just a weird setup...with a sushi counter to the left of a large entry room. This place is just not warm and inviting. Lastly, unlike Japanese steak houses in bigger cities...surprisingly...the diversity of people at this location makes for an incredibly strange mix if you don't fill the table up yourselves...and not in a good way! Not a single couple at our table talked to each other. *One of the men at our table asked for A1 sauce for his shrimp and rice.

Took my parents out to lunch here last weekend on our way back from Columbia. I love restaurants that have an ethnic themed exterior and interior design. We were greeted by smiles and quickly ushered to our seats. We chose to sit at a table. The waiter was very courteous and the restaurant owner actually checked up on how we were doing half way through the meal. We ordered the fried calamari for appetizer. It was very good. I ordered the Hibachi Steak. The meat was very tender and juicy, and their fried rice was cooked perfect. I had some of my mom's shrimp and it was delicious as well. They were reasonably priced for this type of restaurant and I really have nothing bad to say about this place. This restaurant was solid, the service, pricing, taste, were all superb. Highly recommend this place to anyone.

On our road trip through the Carolinas, we had dinner at Sakura Japanese Steak House in Rock Hill since my friend was really craving some Japanese. This is a good sized restaurant with a sushi bar, lounge, and many hibachi tables (they cook your food in front of you) in several rooms. We arrived here around 6:30PM on a typical weeknight and we were seated at the hibachi table just in time with two parties already seated, a young couple and a larger party of 4 with kids. We looked over the menu which offers hibachi style entrees (steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops, filet mignon, & lobster), sushi, appetizers, soups, and salads. Children's menu is offered, as well as beer, wine, and sake. The prices are moderate, most entrees in the $9 (vegetarian)-$36 (filet & lobster) range. This sounded pretty good, eh? Appetizers: The Tako Sunomono ($6) was decent which had cucumbers, shredded crab, sesame seeds, very little octopus, and an oily vinaigrette. The Shrimp Tempura ($6) was disappointing for the price tag, 5 small shrimp, deep fried in a light batter (greasy) and served with a soy sauce for dipping. Our entrees included clear broth and salad. The salads had iceberg lettuce topped with a cold and clumpy ginger dressing with a very sour taste, no good. The hibachi chef cooking at our table seemed inexperienced compared to the other chef at the next table who was doing all sorts of tricks. Our chef did not show off his skills that much, he pretty much just quickly banged the spatulas on the grill, cooked the ingredients (vegetables, fried rice, & meats) on the table with lit a wall of flames. AFTER serving everyone at the table, the chef attempted to light an onion tower with little success? I was expecting the onion tower trick while our food was actually being cooked and not AFTER everyone was served their food and eating. The entrees Chicken & Scallops Combination ($16 each) tasted good including the fried rice, grilled veggies, tender chicken and soft scallops (not many, I counted only 2). The food was very hot and not too salty. After all parties were finished eating, no one at the table ordered dessert and we were presented with the checks. All parties handed over credit cards (3) with the checks to the server for processing. Moments later, the server handed back our credit cards accompanied by the wrong slip/checks, a mix up? We definitely did not order $70 worth of food! The server took our credit cards and slips back and re sorted with apologies. I think they got the totals corrected, but I will be keeping a very close eye on my credit card statement soon. Overall, the appetizers and starters were okay, some disappointing. The hibachi entrees we had were good, but not the greatest we've had. The hibachi show was missing some elements including no egg juggling with spatula, no flipping the shrimp treat into mouths of diners, and no fiery onion tower presentation "during" the cooking session. The credit card and checks mix up was unnerving, but mistakes can happen.
